BASE FOOTBALL

Tactical Problem: Learning to punt the football to open space.
Ability to anticipate where the other team will / will not be able to make a play.

Skill development: Accuracy punting and thinking about where the best place is to punt the ball.
Learning to read player positioning to know where to place the ball.

Teaching Point:

Tactic

  • Learn to place the punt to an open space.
  • Learn to 'read' the other team (abilities, movement, holes in the field etc.).

Skill

  • Proper punt technique.
  • Kicker must be able to successfully punt the ball to an open space on the field.
  • punting and catching the football.
  • movement of the football by the fielding team.

Organizational Points:
  • Same rules as a regular baseball game, except 'batter' punts the football into the field.
Extension:
  • Modify the game so that a 'fielder' will pressure the 'batter'.  Forces the player punting the ball to act quickly.
